The 8th edition of DMY International Design Festival 2010 will kick off with a grand opening ceremony at Flughafen Berlin Tempelhof in the evening of June 9. Over 11.000 square meters filled with inspirational prototypes and new product evolutions by over 400 designers invite you to explore the latest developments in the fields of contemporary product design. We took part at the opening ceremony.
Located in the huge, history-charged hangars of former city airport Berlin Tempelhof, the central exhibition will feature new product launches and showcases by young and professional designers, internationally renowned studios and firms as well as curated exhibitions by international design festivals and institutions. Next to showcases by the Centro Metropolitano de Diseño (Buenos Aires), Seoul Design Festival, Crafts Council UK or Taiwan Design Center, the Vienna Design Week Embassy will premiere a novel design installation by Viennese design-duo mischer’traxler, DMY Award winners 2009, framed by new works of Marco Dessi, Max Lamb and Casali.
